Cyberpunk maker CD Projekt sued by investor for botched launch
CD Projekt SA, the Polish video game publisher Cyberpunk 2077, has been sued by an investor who claims the company has misled them about the potential of the error-ridden game whose botched release this month made plunge stocks.
Andrew Trampe sued Thursday in federal court in Los Angeles and is seeking to represent other investors who have purchased the company s securities.
CD Projekt did not disclose that Cyberpunk 2077 was “virtually unplayable on current generation Xbox or Playstation systems due to a huge number of bugs,” according to the complaint.
As a result, Sony Corp. has removed Cyberpunk 2077 from the Playstation Store, and Sony, Microsoft Corp. and the company were forced to offer a full refund for the game, according to the complaint.
The company’s U.S. certificates of deposit fell 25% within three days of Cyberpunk 2077’s December 10 release. They fell 16% after Sony pulled the game from its Playstation store on December 18.
CD Projekt representatives did not respond to a request for comment sent by email after normal business hours.
